中村　多恵

It may surprise you to learn that 中村 entered the industry at 52—quite late in life. However, there were circumstances. As she explains: "I had to wind down a business venture I was running, and some debt accumulated in the process. I entered this industry to repay it." What strikes you most is her bright and upbeat manner in discussing this—never dwelling on hardship. This warmth and genuine kindness seem to be the secret to her popularity.

Gentle 中村's specialty in the kitchen is simmered dishes. She's confident with any ingredient, having spent her years as a devoted homemaker and "mother." Her particular pride is in preparing taro root nimono, a dish requiring careful peeling and slow cooking—work she never shies away from.

A native of Fukuoka in Kyushu, 中村 was an ordinary girl in her school days—passionate about group sounds, going to movies with friends, but not particularly athletic. The first LP she ever bought was "花の首飾り" by Tigers, the group that took the nation by storm. Many customers will recognize the era! Her enduring love of romance and her youthful sensibilities speak to her romantic nature.

中村 married at 23 following a love affair, and is now surrounded by children and grandchildren. Her marriage will soon reach 40 years. With only five male partners in her entire life, we can see her steadfast and sincere nature.

Yet even devoted 中村 once experienced forbidden love—an affair. Around age 40, at the height of her ripeness, she developed feelings for her supervisor at work and carried on a secret romance for about a year. She found herself attracted to someone plump and far from handsome—quite opposite to her husband—and couldn't understand why. That affair ended when 中村 left her job and they drifted apart. Importantly, it didn't haunt her; she prioritized her children above all, and it simply couldn't continue.
